Prints are starting to appear everywhere after a few seasons of Phoebe Philo era or some may call it minimalistic and norm core. Starting from the surge of prints from Nicolas Ghesquière for Louis Vuitton, causing the sensation for the house after a huge change of design direction from previous designer Marc Jacobs, I was totally smitten by how Nicolas merge his design with the house rules. A few seasons of excitement for Louis Vuitton, now, wowing the fashion scene is Alessandro Michele for Gucci.
His design brings a relief of fresh air to the almost sinking design house (in my opinion). Striding down the runway, the models he dressed are a looker. Boy! Does it leaves an impression where he mix nerd with prints and glitter. Sounds clown like, but under his talented eyes, every piece becomes an impressive creation of art.
I LOVE EVERYTHING from Gucci now. EVERYTHING. I think for those who always love clean simple minimalistic fashion may disagree with the crazy creation from Alessandro but I can see him as a rising star just like Nicolas Ghesquière when he first started out.
Honestly, I was relief that prints are back. I’m suffering in silence when I see my wardrobe now reduced to mostly pieces plain black, white and grey clothes with good cuts, but it’s no longer fun. I was clinging on to my favourite designer Dries Van Noten for prints. Dressed here in a Dries Van Noten skirt, the look is coincidentally in line with the latest Gucci Fall/winter 2016 collection ( or that’s what I want to believe), but a little more played down.
Wearing: Dries Van Noten Spring 2015 ruffled skirt, Mango top, Chloe sunnies, a ribbon used as a scarf and Schutz leopard heels
Below is a peek of some of my favourite pieces from Gucci Fall/Winter 2016. It’s a mix of amazing colour combinations, prints, sequins, rock and roll, and schoolgirl nerd. There a touch of oriental in the design as well. It’s everything and yet, a well-blended everything. Do you think the models look like christmas trees or do you think they are just interestingly dressed?
